Yesterday, the Council for Health and Development gave a Basic Health Orientation (BHO) to the lay-leaders of Muling Pagkabuhay Parish in Meycauayan, Bulacan.
The BHO discussed the current deteriorating state of our healthcare system, the government’s negligence to people’s health and giving up its responsibility to corporations and the role of community-based health programs (CBHPs) in advancing the people’s right to health and creating a people-managed health service by organizing the people.
The BHO was attended by representatives of different parishes namely: San Bartolome, San Isidro, Sto. Niño, St. Joseph the Worker, St. Francis of Assisi and Muling Pagkabuhay Parish. These parishes are under Fr. Rolando de Leon as the Director of the Vicarial Commission on Social Action (CSA) of the Vicariate of St. Francis of Assisi.
The CBHPs will continue to empower the communities and lay the foundations for an alternative health care system that is mass-oriented, accessible to the people, upholds people’s rights and towards social change.
