The Council for Health and Development in partnership with the Parish-Based Health Program (PBHP) under the Health and Nutrition Program of the Diocese of Novaliches conducted a First Aid Training on May 17 and 19, 2023. The participants were trainee Community Health Workers (CHWs) from the Sacred Heart Parish in Brgy. Caybiga, Caloocan together with their parish priest, Fr. Aldrin Lopez.
The training included basic life support (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation or CPR), wound dressing and cleaning, and responding to common emergencies such as dizziness, convulsions, seizures, etc. This is part of the Basic Health Skills Training program for the establishment of a Parish-Based Health Program in Sacred Heart.

Due to the lack of free or affordable health services, especially in the community of workers in General Luis, Novaliches, the Diocese intends to build community-based health programs under the administration of local parishes in order to meet the needs of communities and empower the people on their right to health.

Sacred Heart Parish is one of the “home parishes” of PBHP in the Diocese of Novaliches. Among the parishes that have CHWs who finished BHST are San Isidro Labrador Parish of Villanova, San Isidro Labrador Parish of Bagong Silangan, and Ina ng Buhay Parish in Damong Maliit.
