For the first time, it was a face-to-face get together of two batches of Community Health Workers (CHWs) who have finished their Basic Health Skills Training Levels 1 and 2 in Brgy. Bagong Silangan, Quezon City.
Apart from their role as CHWs, these volunteers trained by Council for Health and Development are also contact tracers.

Asked what gives them fulfillment in their new role in the community, the CHWs said they are now able to provide health advice and education to their neighbors when they are sought. Being able to help others gives them fulfillment, they expressed.
Committees in charge of health services, campaign, and training were also set up earlier today. And while recognizing the importance of educating the public on issues affecting people’s health, the Brgy. Bagong Silangan CHWs speaker’s pool was also formed.

Despite the recent disaster brought by Typhoon Ulysess that swept the barangay and severely affected the lives and homes of the residents including the CHWs, the volunteers’ spirits were not dampened. They thanked the rapid response of kind-hearted souls who sent help through CHD.
Before the meeting ended, CHD distributed children’s clothes donated by Dr. Tan Cho-Chiong and his foundation. ##
